2009 PRITZKER PRIZE AWARDED TO PROFESSOR GERHARD L. WEINBERG
The European History Section wishes to extend its congratulations to EHS Life Member Gerhard L. Weinberg.  William R. Kenan Jr. Professor Emeritus of History at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for his recent lifetime achievement. Professor Weinberg won the 2009 Pritzker Military Library Literature Award that "recognizes a living author for a body of work that has profoundly enriched the public’s understanding of American military history." Dr. Reinhold Wagnleitner is Associate Professor of Modern History at the University of Salzburg, Austria. In numerous articles he analyzed the American cultural influence in Europe, the political, economic, and cultural role of the culture industries in the Cold War, British and Austrian foreign relations, the influence of the Internet on the study and understanding of history, as well as other contemporary problems.
